Nuna counts weight differently on the two pages, so the 10 lb gap shrinks a little when you add the extras. With the insert, arm bar and canopy, the TRIV next is about 21 lb. With the arm bar and insert, the MIXX next is about 29 lb [1][2]. Check the weight you will actually carry up the stairs.

Newborn use

The MIXX next is the better fit for the first weeks if you want your baby lying flat. Nuna lists a true-flat recline and four modes: a bassinet or a PIPA infant seat, or the seat facing you or facing out [1]. The bassinet is sold separately.

The TRIV next has no bassinet option on Nuna's page. Nuna says to use a PIPA series infant car seat until your child is about 6 months, then move to the stroller seat [2]. That works if you plan to carry your baby in an infant seat. See our Nuna car seat guide for the PIPA seats and our car seat and stroller combo guide for how seat and stroller pair.

The older Nuna MIXX

Nuna's page covers the MIXX next only, so the original comes from a Nuna retailer's comparison. It lists the original as released in 2019 and the MIXX next in fall 2020 [3].

Spec MIXX next Original MIXX
Weight 28.3 lb 27 lb
Folded 19 x 27.5 in 16.5 x 34 in
Wheels Foam-filled rubber on all wheels Plastic EVA front wheels
Adapter and bassinet Ring adapter included; bassinet separate Same

That retailer's article and table disagree on the original's rear wheels, so we haven't leaned on that row. Nuna's current page lists the MagneTech magnetic buckle on the MIXX next [1]. A different retailer says the buckle was added in early 2021, after the late-2020 launch, so a first-run MIXX next may not have it. If you buy used, check the buckle, the model name on the frame and the manual.

Nuna DEMI grow

The questions people ask, such as Nuna DEMI vs MIXX, come down to a second child. Nuna's support page says the DEMI grow is rated birth to 50 lb and can be used as a single or a double stroller [4]. The MIXX next and TRIV next are single strollers.

Recalls and safety

We searched CPSC's database and our NHTSA extract on October 16, 2026. We found no CPSC recall of a Nuna stroller. Nuna recalled high chairs in 2016 for an arm bar that can bend or detach (16-100), and certain Rava car seats in a 2024 NHTSA campaign (24C-002) for a harness adjuster that can fail [6][7]. Those are different products. These are the recalls we found, not a promise about every recall, so check your model at SaferProducts.gov and see our stroller recall tracker. Use the harness every time.

Who each fits

The MIXX next fits you if:

  • You want a full-size stroller with a true-flat recline and a bassinet option.
  • You'll use it as your main stroller and don't mind a 19-inch-tall fold.

The TRIV next fits you if:

  • You want the lighter, smaller Nuna for city use and trunks.
  • You plan on a PIPA infant seat for the first months.

Where to buy

Nuna sells these strollers direct and through its dealers, and we found no Nuna stroller on Amazon. For other strollers, see our stroller guide.
