Key takeaways
- The infant seat decides the safety fit. The AAP says to keep children rear-facing as long as possible, so the seat's weight and height limits matter more than the stroller's brand.
- The infant seats here cap out at 30 to 35 pounds and 29.5 to 32 inches. Babies often reach the height limit first.
- Three picks use seats also listed in our infant car seat guide: the UPPAbaby Aria V2 and Mesa V3, and the Doona.
- The only jogging system here, Baby Trend's Expedition Race Tec PLUS, says to wait until the child is at least 6 months old before jogging.
- No CPSC or NHTSA recall turned up for these models on October 16, 2026. Check the recall lookup again after you buy.
A travel system is an infant car seat and a stroller sold together, built so the seat clicks into the stroller. You move a sleeping baby from car to sidewalk without unbuckling. The seat is the safety part, and the AAP says the right one fits your baby and your car and is used correctly every ride [1]. So we picked by use, not by rank.

The specs side by side
Each value links to the maker's page. Rows for the seat and the stroller are kept separate, because the seat sets how long you can use the system.
The picks, by use
Recall status comes from CPSC's database for the strollers and a search of NHTSA's recall lookup for the seats on October 16, 2026 [3][5]. We found no recall for any model below. Recalls can be added at any time, so look yours up after you buy.
Budget: Baby Trend Tango Travel System
This pairs the Tango stroller with the Ally 35 seat [6][7]. The Ally 35 fits babies from 4 to 35 pounds and up to 32 inches [7]. The stroller weighs 20.15 pounds, folds to 23 by 31 by 17 inches and carries a child up to 50 pounds and 42 inches [6]. Baby Trend recommends the stroller seat from 6 months, so for a newborn you'd ride in the Ally 35 clicked into the tray [6].
Seat note: Baby Trend's pages don't separate the seat's weight from the base, so check the manual for the carrier weight [7].
Not for: Families who want a stroller that's comfortable for a newborn lying flat. The Tango's seat starts at 6 months [6].

Lightweight: UPPAbaby Minu V3 with Aria V2
The Aria V2 carrier weighs 6 pounds without the canopy and insert, and fits babies from 4 to 30 pounds and up to 30 inches [9]. The Minu V3 weighs 16.7 pounds and folds to 10 by 18 by 21.5 inches [8]. Together they're the lightest pair here. Both are sold in one bundle on Amazon. This is the same seat as the Aria V2 pick in our infant car seat guide.
Not for: Taller babies. The Aria V2's 30-inch height limit is 2 inches lower than most seats here [9]. The Aria base is heavy at 12.8 pounds [9].

Jogging: Baby Trend Expedition Race Tec PLUS
This system combines a jogging stroller with the EZ-Lift PLUS infant seat [10]. The seat fits 4 to 30 pounds and up to 29.5 inches, and Baby Trend says it weighs under 8 pounds [10]. The stroller has 12-inch front and 16-inch rear all-terrain tires, folds to 24 by 36 by 18 inches and carries up to 50 pounds and 42 inches [10]. The whole set weighs 37 pounds [10].
Baby Trend says: "We recommend that the child occupant be at least 6 months of age prior to use of the stroller for jogging" [10]. So the infant seat clicks in for walks, and running waits until the baby is older. Ask your pediatrician before you run.
Not for: Small trunks, and parents who want a seat that goes to 32 inches. The EZ-Lift PLUS height limit is 29.5 inches [10].

Premium and modular: UPPAbaby Vista V3 with Mesa V3
The Mesa V3 fits babies from 4 to 30 pounds and up to 32 inches, with a carrier weight of 9.9 pounds [12]. The Vista V3 is 27.6 pounds, folds to 16.3 by 25.7 by 33.8 inches with the seat on and takes a toddler seat up to 50 pounds [11]. The Mesa clicks into the frame without adapters [11]. UPPAbaby says the Vista can take a second seat or a RumbleSeat later, sold separately [11]. This is the same seat as the Mesa V3 pick in our infant car seat guide.
Not for: Anyone who wants a light stroller. It weighs 27.6 pounds [11].

Double-ready: Evenflo Pivot Xpand with LiteMax
The LiteMax seat in this bundle fits 4 to 35 pounds and 17 to 32 inches [13]. The stroller converts from single to double without tools and takes two toddler seats, two infant seats or one of each [13]. Evenflo lists the whole system at 30.9 pounds, folded at 26.5 by 23.75 by 33.75 inches, and says it self-stands [13]. The toddler seat has a 3-position recline [13].
This is the original LiteMax, not the LiteMax NXT in our infant seat guide, so the seat limits differ.
Not for: Those who want to travel light. A second seat and adapters are extra.

All-in-one, no stroller frame: Doona Car Seat & Stroller
The Doona is an infant seat with wheels that fold out, so there's no separate stroller to buy at first [14]. It fits 4 to 30 pounds and up to 32 inches, weighs 17.2 pounds with the wheels and installs with a LATCH base or the seat belt alone [14]. Doona says its handlebar works as an anti-rebound bar [14]. It's the same seat as the Doona pick in our infant car seat guide.
Not for: Long walks or a toddler. It's a stroller for the infant-seat months only, so you'll need another stroller later.

Full-size from a familiar brand: Chicco Bravo LE Trio
The system includes the KeyFit 30 Zip seat, rated 4 to 30 pounds and up to 30 inches, at 9.6 pounds without the base [15]. The Bravo LE stroller weighs 26.5 pounds, folds to 16 by 22.8 by 29 inches and holds up to 50 pounds [15]. It has all-wheel suspension and a one-hand multi-position recline, and a newborn positioner fits infants 4 to 11 pounds [15].
The KeyFit Max in our infant seat guide is a different seat from the KeyFit 30 Zip here, so check which one a listing includes.
Not for: Families who want a seat that goes to 32 inches. This one tops out at 30 inches [15].

How to choose a travel system
Start with the seat. Check weight and height limits, carrier weight, and whether you can install it without the base for taxis and rideshares. Babies often outgrow an infant seat by height first, so a 32-inch limit buys more time than a 29.5-inch one.
Then check the stroller. Look at weight, folded size and child limit. CPSC says strollers are normally used up to about 36 months, so most systems take a second life as a toddler stroller [4].
Confirm they click together. Look for the maker's compatibility list, or adapters sold separately. Baby Jogger, for example, says its double stroller works with most Britax, Cybex, Graco and Maxi-Cosi seats through adapters [16].
Think about what you'll outgrow first. The seat goes in months, the stroller in years. If you'd rather not buy a bundle, pick the seat and stroller separately. For a longer plan, see our infant vs convertible comparison.
If the Doona is on your list, see Doona weight limits, base and expiration and Nuna vs Doona.
Safety basics
Rear-facing, as long as possible. The AAP says all infants and toddlers should ride rear-facing as long as possible [1].
The seat is for travel only. The AAP says car seats should be used only for a child's travel and not for sleeping or feeding outside the vehicle [1]. Move a sleeping baby to a flat sleep surface when you arrive.
Strollers have their own rule. Strollers must meet 16 CFR part 1227, which adopts ASTM F833 [4]. Use the stroller harness every time, and don't leave a child alone in it [17].
Register the seat and check recalls. Register it with the maker, then look it up in NHTSA's recall lookup [3]. A certified child passenger safety technician can check your install, and NHTSA says in most cases the check is free [2].
Mind the date. Every seat has an expiration date on its label. See our guide to car seat expiration dates. If you're considering a used seat, the AAP says to avoid one when you don't know its history [1]. Money tight? Read about getting a free car seat.
Know the law. Each state sets its own rules. Look up yours in our car seat laws by state, and add the rest to your baby registry checklist.
Questions people ask
What is a travel system?
A stroller sold with an infant car seat that clicks into it, usually with a base for the car. You move the baby between car and stroller without unbuckling. The seat is for travel only, and the AAP says not to use it for sleeping or feeding outside the vehicle.
What's the best car seat and stroller combo?
There isn't one for every family. Pick the infant seat that fits your baby and car first, then the stroller. For a budget, the Baby Trend Tango with Ally 35 is the simplest. For a light carry, the UPPAbaby Minu V3 with Aria V2 is the lightest here at 16.7 pounds plus a 6-pound carrier.
How long can a baby use the infant seat in a travel system?
Until the baby reaches the seat's weight or height limit, or the head gets too close to the top of the shell as the manual describes. For the seats here that's 30 to 35 pounds and 29.5 to 32 inches. Then move to a convertible seat and keep riding rear-facing.
Can I mix a car seat and stroller from different brands?
Often yes, with adapters, but check the maker's compatibility chart first. Baby Jogger, for example, says its City Mini GT2 Double builds a travel system with most Britax, Cybex, Graco and Maxi-Cosi infant seats using adapters sold separately.
Is a travel system worth it vs buying separately?
It's worth it when the pair is one you'd buy anyway, because the seat and stroller are already matched. It isn't worth it if the seat has limits you don't like, such as a 4-pound minimum for a preemie. Check the seat before the bundle.
