Write for The Mom Site

Parents, birth workers and writers pitch an article or a link here. Brands and their PR teams pitch a product for one of our gear roundups or registry guides: choose a product placement below, and the form says what to send.

Written by The Mom Site editorial team. Contributed articles and paid placements are always labeled as such.

Terms and fees

Where it runs

Contributed articles and paid placements run only in our practical guides: gear, registry and baby-product guides, and everyday parenting how-tos. Our benefits pages, state guides, care directory, provider profiles, recall pages, car seat laws and tools carry no paid links, and neither does anything about mental health, pregnancy loss or a crisis. We don't make exceptions to that.

What happens after you send it

We read every pitch and reply by email. If it's a fit, we come back with editorial guidance and a timeline. If it isn't, we say so clearly rather than leave you waiting. If we decline an article, we may offer a link placement instead.

Two ways to pay

Send for review: nothing is charged when you submit. If we accept, we email a secure payment link. An invoice left unpaid releases the slot.

Hold my card now: your card is authorized for the fee through Stripe but not charged. We take the payment only when your piece is published. If we decline it, you choose what happens next: send a replacement, switch to a different option, or release the hold. Releasing it cancels the authorization, so nothing is charged and there's nothing to refund. A hold lasts up to 7 days. If we haven't decided by then, it lapses on its own, nothing is charged, and if we later publish we email you a payment link.

Paid placements

Fees are as listed under Pitch us, and we confirm them with you before anything is scheduled. A paid placement means the product or link appears on the page labeled “Sponsored”, and the link is marked as sponsored for search engines, as Google requires for paid links. It isn't a recommendation: we never call a sponsored product the best, rank it, rate it or say we tested it, and if we have reservations we say them. Placements run 12 months from publication, don't auto-renew, and renew at current rates on request. Fees are non-refundable once published. If we move a placement to a new URL, the term restarts from the new publication date.

What we can change, and refunds

We may edit, rewrite, remove or unpublish any content or link at any time, including inside a paid term, where we believe it's inaccurate, out of date or unsafe, where the product is recalled or no longer matches current CPSC, NHTSA, AAP or CDC guidance, or where the linked page or business has changed. Accuracy isn't subject to the placement term. If we remove a paid link inside its term for reasons unrelated to your conduct, we credit you pro rata. Unpaid contributed content and its links may be edited, rewritten or removed at any time, and contributors are credited where their work forms the basis of a rewritten article.

What we add to every piece

You don't need to be a licensed professional, and we don't ask you for citations. We research the product and the claims ourselves, and every number on the page is cited or computed from public data. A claim we can't support doesn't run. We check every product against the CPSC and NHTSA recall databases. Anything about postpartum depression, self-harm, feeding problems, safe sleep, or medication or supplements in pregnancy or for babies carries crisis lines, when-to-call guidance and links to official guidance, whoever wrote it. Nothing about an identifiable child other than your own.

No review badges

We never label a page “medically reviewed”, and contributed articles don't get a reviewer badge either. If you list a credential, it appears in your byline only after we check it against the public license or certification registry. Your credentials never stand in for our fact-check.

What you get

Editing for clarity and our house style, with anything we'd change substantively raised with you first. A byline with your name, your checked credentials and one link to your site. The page is marked as a contribution, and a paid one is marked “Sponsored contribution”. You don't get an author page. Where a page links to a business owned by The Mom Site's owners or staff, we say so on the page; we hold ourselves to the rule we apply to contributors.
