Ohio details
Ohio Adm.Code 5160-8-42 (current version effective October 1, 2024; first effective January 1, 2022) pays for lactation consultation separately from other professional services. IBCLCs may render and bill as their own pay-to provider, and the usual practitioner order is waived. Hospitals, FQHCs, RHCs, group practices and ambulatory clinics can also bill. No separate payment is made when it is part of nurse home visiting. The telehealth rule (5160-1-18, effective January 1, 2026) lets IBCLCs deliver lactation consultation by telehealth. Ohio did not respond to the 2021 KFF survey.
