Since October 1, 2024, NM Medicaid enrolls Lactation Care Providers (provider type 406, specialty 207) who hold an LCP license from the NM Board of Nursing plus IBCLC, CLC or another approved certification, and they bill S9443 directly ($110 individual, $56.44 per person for groups). Pregnant or breastfeeding members and breastfeeding infants are eligible, and no prior authorization is required. BCBSNM's 2026 Turquoise Care handbook lists lactation care as covered with no prior authorization. The state did not respond to the 2021 KFF survey.
