KRS 205.556 (created effective July 15, 2024, amended April 14, 2026) requires DMS and its MCOs to cover lactation consultation by a licensed practitioner whose scope includes it, including home visits, telehealth and group sessions, without cost sharing or prior authorization. No DMS implementing source was found: S9443 and other lactation-specific codes are absent from the 2026 physician and preventive health fee schedules, no 907 KAR regulation (chapters 1 and 3 checked) or posted state plan amendment mentions lactation, and MCO policies were not checked. Status stays unverified until DMS billing guidance is confirmed.
