Does Medicaid cover lactation support in Georgia?
In Georgia, Medicaid pays for up to five lactation consultant visits per pregnancy, and IBCLCs can enroll and bill directly.

Georgia details
Georgia Medicaid has paid IBCLCs for lactation consultations since July 1, 2022, billed with S9443 or S9445 on the mother's ID, during the 365-day postpartum period, with no prior approval. DCH enrolled lactation consultants as a new provider type in August 2022 (they must meet the Georgia Lactation Consultants Practice Act). Since April 1, 2026, follow-up visits may be by video or audio-only telehealth after an initial face-to-face visit. KFF's 2021 survey had no Georgia response.
