Alabama details
No current primary source describes a lactation consultation benefit. We checked the Alabama Medicaid Covered Services Handbook (10-8-26), the Maternity Services page, 2026 provider ALERTs and Alabama Administrative Code chapters 560-X-1, -6, -7, -11, -13, -21, -37, -45, -48, -49, -50 and -55; none mention lactation services. Alabama's provider billing manuals and full fee schedules can only be opened after accepting a CPT license, so they weren't reviewed. KFF's 2021 survey reported Alabama covered lactation consultation only in the hospital.
