Massachusetts details
Visits come from an hours-based pool: MassHealth covers up to 8 hours of prenatal and postpartum visits combined without prior authorization (for example, eight 60-minute visits), and perinatal visit payments are capped at $800. Visits can happen any time during pregnancy and up to 12 months after the pregnancy ends, whatever the outcome. The MassHealth Chief Medical Officer's standing recommendation covers all pregnant and postpartum members, so no separate recommendation is needed. Since 11/8/2024 (SPA 24-0040), adoptive parents of infants under 1 are also covered. Members should never pay out of pocket.
