Choosing a lactation consultant
- IBCLC vs CLC: which lactation consultant do you need?IBCLCs are board certified after 300 to 1,000 supervised clinical hours. CLCs and peer counselors help with common issues. Who to see and how to check.
- When to see a lactation consultantSee a lactation consultant if feeding hurts, your baby isn't latching or gaining, supply is a worry, or you'll pump at work. What to expect and how to pay.
- How much does a lactation consultant cost? Most health plans must cover lactation help at no cost to you. Self-pay sessions run about $100 or more. Here's how to get covered or free help.
