Does Medicaid pay for a doula in Tennessee?
Tennessee Medicaid doesn't cover doula care.
Tennessee details
No Medicaid doula benefit. Tennessee has studied doula care and set up an advisory committee, and a 2026 resolution (SR 263) urges TennCare to cover doulas, but no coverage law has passed. HB 0295 (TennCare doula coverage) was recommended for passage if amended and sent to the House Health Committee on Feb. 11, 2026, with no later action; the Senate version (SB 0044) passed the Senate in March 2025, narrowed to doula certification only, and is held on the House desk.
