South Dakota details
Rates rose on July 1, 2026 (from $16.87 and $600). The $1,800 cap comes from the billing manual updated December 2025. Visits have no count limit; they are billed in 15-minute units under the dollar cap. A referral is required from a physician, PA, CNP or CNM the mom has seen in person or by telemedicine in the last 90 days (or her designated care-management provider). Prenatal, postpartum and care-coordination services can be by telemedicine, but labor support must be in person. A physician, CNM or CPM must attend the delivery, which must be in a hospital or birth center; low-risk home births are allowed if one of those providers attends. Doula services within 3 hours after delivery are included in the labor payment. South Dakota DSS has no member page about doulas.
